How the GATE 2019 Result / Score out of 100 is calculated?

There are few papers in GATE, like CE, CS, EC, EE and ME that are conducted in multi-session. Other papers are mostly concluded in a single session. Therefore on GATE the papers that are held in multi-session, their scores out of 100 are normalised. For other papers in the single session, raw marks are presented.

Thus the marks out of 100 are of two types: Raw scores for single session papers and normalised scores for multi-session papers.

Now, how they are calculated?

Calculation of Raw Marks: See raw marks is simply calculated on the basis of the number of correct answers you have given in the exam.

Calculation of Normalised Marks: Now, this can be a bit tricky to understand. A formula is used for calculating the normalised marks. Check the explanation below.
