GATE 2019 Syllabus for EE

It is important that before preparing for the exam, you must be familiarised with the syllabus as the questions will be asked as per it only. The syllabus for GATE is not that critical. GATE 2019 would contain questions of two different types, i.e., MCQ type and Numerical Answer Type. How to Prepare for GATE 2019 EE

You would have come across various other web pages before landing on this one. Of course, the basics of preparation will be similar everywhere, work hard, be focused, and etc. But what is it that you are searching for and just cannot find an answer for. Is it the recommended books for preparation or some self-motivation, or do you want to know the preparation tips without spending a lot on coaching? Exam Pattern for GATE EE

Another important factor which can help you in your preparation is the exam pattern. The GATE exam shall be of 03 hours duration and will be a computer-based test. It consists of 65 questions for a total of 100 marks. GATE paper will consist of two type of questions, MCQ and Numerical Answer type.

The MCQ questions will carry 1 or 2 marks and there will be a negative marking of 1/3 mark for every answer marked wrong in 1 mark and likewise, 2/3 marks shall be deducted for answer marked wrong in case of 2 marks.

The NAT questions also carry 1 or 2 marks. In this type of questions, you will not be given choices of answers as given in MCQ. Here you will need to type number with the help of virtual numeric keypad. Moreover, there shall be no negative marking for any incorrect answer.

Distribution of Questions for Electrical Engineering

  • Focus on those subjects which have maximum weightage.
  • Practice the maximum number of questions possible on a given topic. This will certainly strengthen your preparation.
  • Make a list of topics in which you think you need more practice and focus on them.
  • Have all essential formulae on your fingertips. Try to see if there are shortcut methods for a particular problem.

If you are not going for coaching, then take up one subject from the GATE syllabi every month, find the most useful resource online, it could be a book, youtube video, mock test series or anything. Clear every concept that came in your way. In that way, you need to memorize too little. You may need some time to really understand if a particular resource fits you. But if you will devote at least 8 hours a day then one month is enough for one subject.

Weightage for each section in GATE EE

To secure All India Rank 01 or under 100, you need to be punctual for one year. Though most toppers say they devote only 6-7 months are enough for preparation.
