GATE 2020 Application Form filling has started online. IIT Delhi releases the GATE Application Form at the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The application form is available earlier on August 31 than previous date which is September 03. Candidates can apply up to September 24, 2019. However, candidates can apply by paying a late fee until October 01, 2019. Candidates who want to pursue the PG engineering courses across India can apply using the GOAPS portal as per the schedule. All the eligible candidates can fill the online application form along with an application fee of Rs. 1500/- (and Rs. 750/- for SC / ST / PWD / Transgender and female candidates). The candidates who have completed the graduation in engineering are eligible to apply for this Aptitude Test. The candidates need to pay the application fee in an online mode only. GATE 2020 Application Form
The GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) hosts the GATE Application Form. The candidates need to register first at GOAPS in order to access the application form. Out of the 25 papers for which GATE 2020 is held, the candidates can apply for anyone. Candidates must follow the schedule below and fill the GATE 2020 Application Form as per the same to mark their eligibility for the exam:

What does GOAPS mean?
GOAPS refers to the online system that provides an interface to the candidates for the coordination between the administration and the candidates. It can be expanded to GATE Online Application Processing System. The address for the GOAPS 2020 is, appsgate.iitd.ac.in. GATE 2020 Application Fee
Along with the Application Form, candidates need to make a payment of fee against the same. This fee is called GATE 2020 Application Fees. Candidates must note that without the payment of the GATE Application Fee the form is incomplete and therefore not submitted. Thus, candidates need to compulsorily pay the Application Fee. The candidates must upload the scanned images in the correct format as it appears on the admit card for the exam. These details are verified on the day of the exam because the admit card acts as an identity proof of the candidate. Step by Step Explanation on How to Apply for GATE 2020
The GATE 2020 Application Form can be filled using the steps given above in the flow chart. Candidates need to know the steps to before the start of the application process for an error free submission of the application form. We have explained the steps given above in flow chart. Candidates can check the same below.
Step 1 – Registration
In the First step candidates need to visit the official website of GATE 2020, and click on the “Click here to Apply” button. Candidates can also directly visit the application form portal, that is, appsgate.iitd.ac.in using the link available here as per the schedule. Candidates must fill the following information:

After filling the above details the candidates would recieve the Enrollment number over the email id and registered mobile number. The Enrollment number and password is to be kept safe for future logins for downloading the answer key and response sheet.
Step 2 – Login using the ID and Password
After the completion of the Registration process candidates need to login at the GOAPS window. GOAPS login window would look as shown in the image beklow:
Step 3 – Fill the Application Form
After the Login process candidates need to fill in the application form. The candidates would need to fill various information in the Application form. This information includes the following:
- Exam Details: This contains filling the paper candidate is apopearing for, choice of the examination country along with 3 choices of the examination cities they would prefer appearing at.
Note: The candidate needs to fill the choice of subject for GATE 2020 with utmost care.
- Personal Details: The candidate has to fill certain personal details in this step of the application form. We have given the details to be entered on this page below, also, the same has been provided in the image below:

Step 4 – Verification and Final Submission
After the candidates fills all the details as mThe candidate must carefully verify and review the application form and then press the “Submit and Proceed to Payment” button.
Step 4 – Payment of Application Fee
Candidates need to pay the application fee as specified above. Application fee can be paid using various payment gatewatys. The candidate should select one of the following and pay the fee for the final submission

Step 6 – Print the Application Form
After a successful payment the candidate are now redirected towards the application form. Candidates need to print and preserve the printed copy for future reference.

- The candidate has to first select the subject they wish to appear GATE 2020 in.

GATE 2020 Application Form Correction
Candidates must be careful and verify the form before the submission. However, candidates even after verifying can land in a situation of errors in the GATE Application Form. Candidates need not worry in such a case, as the organising body opens the GATE form correction window for the candidates who made mistakes while filling the application form. Candidates need to be carful this time as there will be no chance of rectifying the errors after this opportunity.
The candidates are allowed to update or correct the incorrect information in their GATE Application Form using this correction window. The corrections are also hosted on the GOAPS Portal. However, the candidates must note that certain fields in the application form cannot be edited once the final submission has been completed. Thus, they must be careful while filling the form
GATE 2020 Admit Card
GOAPS host the GATE 2020 Admit card. Candidates need to login and download the same as per the schedule. All the important information regarding the exam is available on the Admit card. This information includes exam slot, date, time and venue. Application number and password is used to download the admit card. The admit card is to be carried on the day of exam. Once the Admit Card is available candidates must check all the details on the same are correct in all aspects. If not they need to contact the authorities for the necessary changes.
Candidates must carry the Admit Card in a printed format along with a valid government id proof. Candidates failing thisare not allowed to appear for the exam.
The candidate must carry a printed copy of the admit card on the day of the exam, along with a valid Government Id proof. These documents are mandatory for the candidates to be carried in the examination hall as they act as temporary proof of eligibility.
GATE 2020 Frequently Asked Questions
Ans : No, there are talks that GATE will be a compulsory examination, which all engineering graduates will have to clear as an exist test. However, no decision has been taken by the AICTE regarding the same.
Ans : There is no attempt limit.
Ans : The candidates can apply in the online mode only. The candidates have to use their contact details to complete the registration and then fill in the online application form at GOAPS. To submit the application form the candidates need to make online payment of the requisite GATE 2020 Application Fee.
Ans : NO. One e-mail address can be used to submit only ONE application form. Candidates are discouraged to fill multiple application forms using different e-mail addresses. In GATE the candidates who do duplicacy of the application form are rejected from the process.
Ans : A candidate will most likely be allotted a center in the examination city of his/her first choice. Only in cases where there are too many candidates opting for a certain city as their first choice, the other two choices become relevant. A candidate is required to fill his/her choices of cities to appear in the examination but should remember that because of operational constraints, the GATE committee reserves the right to add a new city or remove an existing one and allot a city that may not be any of the choices of a candidate. For candidates opting international centers, there will be only one choice (by default).
Ans : Please login to the GOAPS 2020 website again and continue the application process. The candidates have to check whether the information they had provided were saved or not. If not they must start over again from where the information is not filled.
Ans : NO. Category certificate is required only for Indian nationals (appearing from exam centres within India), who wishes to avail a concession in application fee. As far as the GATE examination is concerned, only SC/ST/PwD candidates and all women candidates are eligible for application fee concession.
Ans : There is a link to the payment gateway from the application portal. The candidate can opt for any of the payment options listed over there. The additional charges such as service charges, processing fees or bank charges, have to be borne by the candidate.
Ans : When you can get back online, login back to GOAPS website and check the status of the payment. If the payment was received by GATE, you can continue the process of printing the application form. If the payment was not received by GATE, you can also check the status of transaction from your bank account. In case, the fee amount has been debited (deducted) from your bank account, but GOAPS does not acknowledge any fee payment, then the money will be credited back to your account.
