8 Months To Go – How To Prepare For GATE 2019 Now
If you have not started yet, you need to pull up your socks and work really hard as it is a “now or never” situation. Now it is the time to work smart along with hard work. Thus read below as we provide some efficient tips on How To Prepare For GATE 2019.
Tip #1: Understand the GATE paper you wish to appear in
Firstly, understand the pattern of the paper you have chosen to appear in GATE 2019. GATE 2019 question papers are differently designed for all 24 subjects. Thus make sure you have proper knowledge of the marking scheme, design of the paper, negative marking etc.
Tip #2: Important Formulas and key concepts
Make a separate copy for all the important formulas and concepts. Keep revising them at regular intervals. Also, during the last few days, you will be able to revise these important concepts easily.
Tip #3: Refer one book instead of many
At this moment, we would like to suggest you refer to one book rather than going over several books. “Too many cooks spoil the broth”, thus refer to one good book which will be equal to several other books. We have provided a subject wise list of good books on this page below.
Tip #4: Prepare a monthly timetable
Now that 8 months are left, divide your months, let us help you:
First 2 Months: Utilise in preparing the most important topics out of the syllabus. Try to complete the syllabus by the end of October.
Next 2 Months: Concentrate on other chapters. Also, start solving at least 2 previous years GATE 2019 Question papers.
Next 2 Months: Now, revise the entire syllabus once again. Note down the doubts and solve them with help of teachers, friends or your guide. Revision is the most important element here. Solve the numerical and derivations. Practice as much as you can.
Last 2 Months: Concentrate on solving question papers and taking mock tests. This will improve your speed and accuracy. Also, keep revising every day for at least 2 hours. Dedicate more time to the important topics and topics you feel you are weak in. Revisions and practise must be your only way to prepare for these 2 months.
Tip #5: Stay motivated and determined
Just making a preparation plan will not do. In GATe need to have a dedication that is stable throughout the preparation period. You might feel exhausted and tired, take breaks and come back to your preps. Try avoiding social media and other distraction until your exams. make sure you are motivated to reach your goal.
Tip #6: Keep analysing yourself
Now, one of the most important steps is to keep a regular track of where your preparation is going. Study a topic, revise it and then test yourself. Your monthly timetable as discussed above must have time slots for self-analysis too. Knowing your weakness and strength will help you prepare your mind for the D – Day.
