JEE Main Counselling is conducted by JoSAA (Joint seat Allocation Authority) every year along with JEE Advanced. But this year CSAB will conduct the JEE Main 2018 Counselling. As per official notification by MHRD,  it has been confirmed that CSAB 2018 will be conducting JEE Main Counselling 2018. MNIT, Jaipur will be conducting body. So, to participate in the counselling process the candidates will need to first register online. By registering they can fill their choices of course and institutes. On the basis of the availability of the seats, candidates will be allotted seats that they need to confirm by payment of confirmation fee. What is JEE Main 2018 Counselling?

JEE Main 2018 counselling refers to that process which follows after declaration of JEE Main 2018 Result. In this process, candidates who have appeared in exam and obtained a All India Rank, participate by registration, then they do choice filling and then organizing body of counselling allots seats on basis of JEE Main 2018 All India Rank and choices filled.

JEE Main 2018 Counselling

JEE Main 2018 Counselling is for those candidates who want to get admission on basis of JEE Main 2018 All India Rank. The schedule of the counselling process is yet not announced. Although it will be announced soon after the JEE Main 2018 Result is announced. However, the candidates can get the expected schedule of the counselling event in the table below:

JEE Main 2018 Counselling Important Terms to Understand

Before we get into the process of JEE Main 2018 Counselling, here are few terms that one must understand. These are the terms that will come up frequently in the counselling process. Thus, they are important for understanding.

Freezing If the candidate is satisfied with his allotted seat, this option is to be selected.
Floating If the candidate is satisfied with the allotted seat but wants to try other options in other institutes they need to select this option.
Sliding If the candidate is satisfied with the seat, but would like to practise other options in the same institute, then this option is to be selected.
Withdraw Candidates can use this option if they no more want to participate in the counselling rounds.
Reporting Centres Candidates need to report at these centres in person to complete the admission related processes like college fee payment and verification.

JEE Main 2018 Counselling Process

The process of JEE Main counselling will be an online process entirely. The candidates just need to appear for the Document Verification processes at the Reporting Centres.

Below is the entire counselling process, in an easy to understand way for the candidates:

The Counselling Body will start the counselling process as per the schedule. As soon as it starts, make sure you register for the process. For doing that, you will need to submit the JEE Maon 2018 roll number and the password. Few details will be automatically filled as per the JEE Main 2018 records.

Choice Filling

From the available list of institutes, the candidates need to select their choices, in order of their preference. Do lock your choices before the last date. If not locked by the candidates, the choice will be locked as per the latest preference list.

Mock Seat Allotment

Through this process, the candidates will be able to see which institute and course will be available to them as per their preference list. If the candidate is not satisfied with it, they can still change the order on the list. This process will be concluded before the last date of registration and choice filling.

Seat Allotment

Once the board does the reconciliation of seats and verification, the seat allotment results will be announced. Now as per their satisfaction, candidates can choose from freezing, sliding, floating or withdraw option.

After the online process ends of seat allocation ends, candidates need to report at the reporting centres for the verification process and payment of fees.

JEE Main 2018 Fee Payment and Seat Confirmation

At the various stage of the seat allotment, whenever the candidate feels satisfied with his/her seat, they need to confirm their seats. Regarding this, they need to pay the seat confirmation fee.

Mode of Payment: Online or via SBI e-Challan

If the candidate fails to pay the confirmation fee, the seat will not be confirmed and the admission will be cancelled. The board will issue a provisional admission letter after the process completes. The admission letter must be carried to the Reporting Centres.

Documents needed at JEE Main 2018 Reporting Centres

The following documents are to be carried by the candidates at the Reporting Centres for the verification process. Also, make sure to carry original as well as set photocopies of these documents.

  1. Three passport size photographs, same as the ones uploaded during registration.
  2. The Provisional admission letter.
  3. Proof of seat acceptance fee payment
  4. Photo identity card
  5. JEE Main 2018 Admit Card
  6. JEE Main 2018 Score Card
  7. Date of birth proof (10th class mark sheet)
  8. Class 12th Mark sheet
  9. Medical certificate
  10. Category certificate (if applicable)
  11. PwD certificate (if applicable)
  12. Registration-cum-locked choices for seat allotment
