Before you know how to prepare for the computer-based test of JEE Main 2019, there are few misconceptions about the online mode of exams we would like to end for you.

Planning to face the CBT mode of JEE Main 2019

Candidates who have never faced the CBT model of the examination, let us tell you, it is not a big problem. There will be instructions on the computer screen on how to use the Computer for the examination. If you know how to move the computer mouse, you are good to go.

Know the computer-based test interface: Make sure you take advantage of the Test Practice Centres (TPCs) that the NTA is establishing for JEE Main 2019 aspirants. These TPCs will host practice sessions that any JEE aspirant can participate in every Saturday and Sunday and get accustomed to the computer-based test interface exactly like the one that will be used during the exam day. The process of JEE Main 2019 CBT

Now, based on previously held JEE Main exam in CBT mode, here is how the online examination process will go. remember NTA might bring few changes in this interface, however, CBTs all over, use the same process as we have discussed below.

#1 Allotment of the Computer

Once you enter the exam center, the invigilator will allot you your system on which you will mark your answers.

#2 Signing In

Next, as per the instructions of the invigilator you have to sign in into your system. The sign in window will look like the one below:

#3 Reading the General Instruction on your screen

Once you log in, the first screen with all the general instructions will open up. This page will have important instructions that you will help you throughout the examination. Thus read this page carefully. Once you are ready click on the “I am ready to begin” button.

#4 The Test Begins

Once the test begins the screen will be divided into 2 sections. In the right-hand section, you will see the number of questions and the indicators. This will act as your guide during the examination. On the left section, the question with options will appear. Here is where you will mark your answers. Check the interface below:

  1. Sections of the question paper
  2. The question you are attempting
  3. Indicators
  4. The question palette
  5. Mark your answer and click this button to proceed ahead
  6. Mark your answer and if you think this question needs review click this button.
  7. Clear all your responses in this question
  8. You do not answer the question because you think the question is wrong or have mistakes, then click this button.

What the indicators stand for? Check the table below to know:

Indicator Status
Gray You have not visited the question yet
Red You have not answered the question
Green You have answered the question
Blue You have NOT answered the question, but have marked it for review
Blue with a green dot You have answered the question but marked it for review.

#5 Submitting the response

On completion of the test you can submit your response using the green submit button as shown in the image below:

The above process will take place on the day of the exam. Thus, reading the process is good, but practicing the same will make you confident to face the CBT without any doubt or hesitation.
