The coaching centres will thus release the answer keys of the pen and paper mode of the examination only. This will be the unofficial answer key. CBSE will release the official answer key for all the sets and for both the mode of examination. Candidates will get the answer keys for the offline paper in all the four sets. They will be distinguished through alphabets likes A, B, C, D, etc.

JEE Main Official Answer Key 2018: Paper 1 and Paper 2
CBSE conducts JEE Main 2018 Paper 1 for the candidates appearing for B.Tech and B.E admissions. It is conducted on all the 3 days as mentioned in the schedule above. All the questions in it will be of MCQ type and the answer key for it will be available for all the 90 questions.
For paper 2, the answer key will be available for only 80 MCQ questions. The drawing questions are subjective and there is no right or wrong answer for them. Hence, the answer key cannot be provided. JEE Main 2018 Paper 2 examination will be conducted in offline mode only on April 08, 2018.
Challenging the JEE Main Official Answer Key 2018
CBSE will provide the option to all the candidates to challenge the published answer key in the prescribed format. To be able to challenge the answer key the candidates need to follow certain norms. Challenging the answer key means, if any candidate comes across any mistake, or feels the need to correct certain answer they can do so. But for that, they need to provide relevant proof and pay a requisite amount.
Steps to challenge the answer key of JEE Main 2018:
- Challenging the answer key will be possible until 11:59 PM on April 27, 2018, on payment of Rs.1000/- per question. CBSE will refund the amount if their challenge is accepted.
- Candidates need to visit the website www.jeemain.nic.in.
- Candidates will have to fill an online application form for this purpose.
- Next, the pay the fee using credit/debit card.
CBSE will consider all challenges and decide which answers should be final. Their decision will be final and binding. Then, as per final answers, CBSE will declare the result.
Calculating Scores using JEE Main Official Answer Key 2018
You will need to use the JEE Main 2018 marking scheme while calculating the scores using the answer keys. The marking scheme of JEE Main 2018 is:
Each correct answer will be awarded +4 marks. Whereas, every wrong answer will fetch -1 mark while any answer with no response will not be given any marks.
Thus, one will have the following formula to calculate their JEE Main 2018 Scores:
4 x (Number of Correct Answers) – 1 (Number of Wrong Answers)

JEE Main 2018 Result Declaration
The result of JEE Main 2018 will indicates marks obtained in each subject, overall marks, and All India Rank. In fact, the examination will also serve as an eligibility test for JEE Advanced 2018 for admission to IITs. Not only this but also on the basis of JEE Main 2018 Result, 2,24,000 candidates will qualify to appear in JEE Advanced 2018.
CBSE will first declare the result of paper 1 on April 30, 2018. The result of paper 2 will be declared on May 31, 2018. Candidates will be able to login to check result on the official website of JEE Main 2018.
All candidates with valid JEE Main 2018 score and rank can participate in the counselling rounds. There are 404 programs and 25220 seats in all that is available through centralised counselling.
