Karnataka PGCET 2019 Syllabus

To make it easier for the candidates we will discuss the exam pattern and syllabus of Type A courses and Type courses one by one. Thus below you will find the syllabus along with their question paper pattern.


Karnataka PGCET 2019 Syllabus and Exam Pattern of Type A Courses

The Type A course includes papers of M.E. / M.Tech programs of VTU / UBDTCE and UVCE. Thus under this written test will be conducted in the following courses:

  1. Civil Engineering
  2. Chemical Engineering
  3. Computer Science Engineering
  4. Environmental Engineering
  5. Textile Engineering
  6. Polymer Science
  7. Bio-Technology
  8. Electrical Science
  9. Mechanical Science

The exam pattern of courses 1 to 7 will remain same. The pattern is given below:

  1. Civil Engineering
  2. Chemical Engineering
  3. Computer Science Engineering
  4. Environmental Engineering

For course number 8, Electrical Science the pattern will be as follows:

Part-A is common to above all subjects, i.e., (E & E), (E & C), (TC), (IT), (BME), (ME)

  • Total Number of Questions: 45
  • Marks: 60
  • 30 Questions Carrying 1 mark each : 30 X 1 = 30
  • 15 Questions carrying 2 mark each : 15 X 2 = 30

Part-B is specific to candidates belonging to the respective branch of specialization of engineering and consists of:

  • Total number of questions: 30
  • Marks: 40
  • 20 Questions carrying 1 mark each : 20 X 1 = 20
  • 10 Questions carrying 2 mark each : 10 X 2 = 20 Marks = 40

Grand Total: Part A + Part B = 75 Questions = 100 marks 

For course number 9, Mechanical Science the pattern will be as follows:

The question paper will consist of Part-A and Part-B.

Part-A is common to (a) M.E. (b) IPE (c) IEM (d) AE (e) MSE (f) ABM

  • Total number of questions: 45
  • Marks: 60
  • 30 questions carrying 1 mark each : 30 X 1 = 30
  • 15 questions carrying 2 mark each : 15 X 2 = 30
  • Total: 60 Marks

Part-B is specific to candidates belonging to the respective branch of specialization of engineering:

  • Total number of questions: 30
  • Marks: 40
  • 20 Questions carrying 1 Mark each : 20 X 1 = 20
  • 10 Questions carrying 2 mark each : 10 X 2 = 20
  • Total: 40 Marks

Grand Total: Part-A + Part-B = 75 questions = Marks = 100

PGCET 2019 Syllabus and Exam Pattern of Type B Courses

The Courses offered by Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Mathematics and Computer Science, Kuvempu University and Department of Studies in Computer Science, University of Mysore are the Type B courses.
