PSU Recruitment Through GATE 2020
The candidates who will qualify the GATE 2020 exam can check the details of the PSU recruitments in this article. Result declaration date of the GATE 2020 exam is March 16, 2020. The candidates will get the GATE scorecard which contains the GATE scores. The PSU Recruitment Through GATE is made on the basis of this score only.
Why is GATE Scores Used For PSU Recruitment?
GATE exam is one of the exams that not only tests the technical skill, but also the logical and analytical skill. It is an all-round test. The PSUs thus rely on the GATE scores for many engineer trainee recruitments each year.
GATE exam has 24 test papers, Candidates can select any one of them to appear in the exam. The exam is held in CBT mode in national level. Qualified candidates can take admission in the IITs or can opt for PSU recruitment through their GATE scores.
Recruitment Process Of The PSUs Through GATE Score
The process of recruitment via GATE scores is different for all the PSUs. It depends on the PSU whether they intake direct candidates on the basis of the score or they conduct any further rounds like Personal Interviews, Written Test or Physical Tests.
However, last year, BSNL didn’t conduct any interview round for the BSNL JTO recruitment. On the other hand, NTPC went ahead to conduct a test round to shortlist the candidates. Thus, there is no hard and fast rule in the recruitment process. It all depends on the PSU.
Many PSUs shortlist the candidates on the basis of the GATE scores and the conduct PI, Written test or many go for Group Discussions.
Eligibility Criteria For PSU Recruitment
To be eligible for PSU recruitment the candidates need to have the minimum eligibility norms as set by the PSUs. These minimum eligibility criteria may be in the terms of:
- Age limits
- Academic qualifications
- CGPA/Percentage of marks needed
- State of eligibility
Thus, apart from having a valid GATE score, other requirements are also mandatory to be fulfilled by the candidates to qualify the recruitment process.

The PSUs release the notice for the recruitment process for the GATE candidates separately. These notices are made available on the official website of the PSUs. After the GATE exam, the candidates must keep a regular watch on the official websites of the PSUs for their desired recruitment notice.
As soon as the notice is out the application form filling process dates and other details are made available. The candidates need to go through the recruitment process and appear accordingly. Thus below are steps:

What Are Maharatnas, Navratnas, and Mini-ratnas?
The OSUs in India are divided into 3 categories – Maharatnas, Navratnas, and Mini-ratnas. To k ow what are the differences between these, read below:
Maharatnas: These are the top PSUs. To be able to be qualified as the maharatnas, a company must gain an annual net profit of over Rs. 5,000 crores, net worth of Rs. 15,000 crores and turnover of Rs. 25,000 crores over past three consecutive years.
Navratnas: The companies are scored on 100 based on the following parameters:
- net profit to net worth
- total manpower cost to total cost of production or cost of services
- PBDIT (Profit before depreciation, interest, and taxes) to capital employed
- PBDIT to turnover
- EPS (Earnings per Share)
- inter-sectoral performance
Those PSUs, score a 60 out of 100 get the status of navratnas.
Miniratnas: The miniratnas are also another category of the PSU that the Government created. These companies are further divided into category 1 and category 2. Some of the miniratnas are:

GATE 2020 Exam
GATE is a national level exam for the engineering graduates of the exam. the candidates who wish to study in the PG engineering level at the IITs, have to appear and qualify the GATE exam. IIT Delhi is conducting GATE 2020. Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is also a golden opportunity to get through the competition for jobs in the government sectors and that too in the PSUs. Every year one of the 7 IITs and one IIsc conduct the GATE exam on a rotational basis. The exam is conducted in online mode and for 24 subject papers.
